Troubleshooting Links

Solutions to common problems when creating, customizing, and managing short links.

Problem: "Slug already exists"

Cause: The custom slug you want is already taken by another user on that domain (for global zones) or by you (for user zones).

Solutions:

  1. Try a different slug:

    • Add numbers: summer-salesummer-sale-2026
    • Add specificity: salespring-sale
    • Use different wording: promospecial-offer
  2. Use a different domain:

    • If snipzr.com/sale is taken
    • Try zor.fi/sale (different global zone)
  3. Use your custom domain:

    • Upgrade to Basic/Professional
    • Connect custom domain
    • Control your own slug namespace

Problem: "Invalid URL format"

Cause: Destination URL doesn't meet requirements.

Solutions:

  • Include protocol: https://example.com not example.com
  • Remove spaces and special characters
  • Ensure URL is accessible
  • Check for typos

Possible causes:

  1. Plan limits reached

    • Check dashboard for usage
    • Upgrade plan
  2. Account issue

    • Verify email address
    • Check account status

Checklist:

  • ✅ Link actually exists in dashboard?
  • ✅ Link is enabled (not disabled)?
  • ✅ Slug spelling correct (case-sensitive)?
  • ✅ Domain working (for custom domains)?
  • ✅ Try from different device/network

Solutions:

  1. Verify link in dashboard
  2. Check if disabled - enable it
  3. Test slug spelling carefully

Causes:

  1. Wrong destination URL set
  2. Link was updated recently
  3. Browser cache

Solutions:

  1. Check link settings in dashboard
  2. Update destination if needed
  3. Clear browser cache
  4. Test in incognito mode

Slug Customization Issues

Problem: Can't edit slug

Cause: Slug customization not available for your plan.

Solutions:

  • Upgrade to Basic or Professional plan

Problem: Slug doesn't accept certain characters

Allowed characters:

  • Letters: a-z, A-Z
  • Numbers: 0-9
  • Hyphens: -
  • Underscores: _

Not allowed:

  • Spaces:
  • Special characters: !@#$%^&*()+=[]{}|;:'",.<>?/\

Tip: Use hyphens for better readability: summer-sale or summer_sale


Analytics Issues

Problem: No click data showing

Possible causes:

  1. Too early - analytics update every few minutes
  2. Link not clicked yet

Solutions:

  1. Wait 5-10 minutes after clicks
  2. Verify clicks actually happened

Problem: Inaccurate click counts

Causes:

  • Browser prefetching

Note: Click counts show real user clicks, not prefetch requests.


Performance Issues

Problem: Slow redirects

Account & Plan Issues

Solutions:

  1. Upgrade to Basic
  2. Upgrade to Professional
  3. Delete unused links
  4. Contact support for quota increase

Problem: Can't access feature

Possible causes:

  • Feature requires paid plan
  • Account not verified
  • Subscription expired

Solutions:

  1. Check required plan level
  2. Verify email address
  3. Update payment method
  4. Contact support
