Snipzr vs Bitly: no meter on your links, your edits or your domain

Bitly is the name everyone knows, and for an enterprise with SSO, an integrations marketplace and a procurement team, that recognition is worth paying for. For everyone else the product is a set of monthly meters: links, QR codes, even the number of times you may change where a link points. Snipzr sells the opposite: a flat price, links that never expire, edits that are never counted, and your own domain on every plan including Free.

What Bitly puts a meter on

  1. Links per month

The free plan allows 5 new short links and 3 custom back-halves a month. The first paid tier allows 100 links a month for $10 a month billed annually.

  2. Edits per month

Changing where a link points is metered: none at all on Free, 5 redirect changes a month on Core, 20 on Growth, 110 on Premium. A typo in a printed QR code can cost you a month's allowance.

  3. Your own domain

A complimentary custom domain arrives with Growth at $29 a month, billed as $348 a year.

  4. How far back you can see

Click data is kept for 30 days on Core, 120 days on Growth and 1 year on Premium. Older campaigns simply disappear from your reports.

  5. The Snipzr position

30 new links a month on Free, and old links never count against the allowance. Edits are never metered on any plan. Your own domain works on every plan including Free. Aggregate statistics are stored for 25 months on every plan; your tier changes how far back you can view, never how long we keep it. All of it is written down on our pricing page and in our docs.

When Bitly is still the better pick

If your company needs single sign-on, a procurement-grade contract, mobile deep links, or one of the hundreds of integrations in Bitly's marketplace, Bitly's Enterprise tier is built for that and we are not. Bitly also lets you shorten a link with no account at all; Snipzr does not, on purpose, because anonymous links are how a short domain ends up on spam lists, and a clean domain is what keeps YOUR links deliverable. If you are a person, a small team or an agency that wants a flat price and no meters, that trade is the whole point.

Questions

Common questions

Can I move my existing Bitly links over?
Existing bit.ly links cannot be pointed at a different service, but you can recreate the destinations in Snipzr in minutes (or via the API in bulk) and update the places you control. If you used a custom domain at Bitly, point that domain at Snipzr and the branding carries over.
Is the free plan actually free?
Yes. 30 new links a month, analytics, QR codes and a custom domain, no card required. There is no meter on edits. Links created on Free stay live forever even if you never log in again.
What if Snipzr shuts down or raises prices?
Founding prices are locked to your subscription forever. And we publish how we count and what we promise, in writing, so you can hold us to it. We are small; being trustworthy is our only marketing.
How is Team different from Bitly for an agency?
Team is $29 a month with ten seats included and unlimited free viewer seats, so clients and stakeholders watch live campaign reports without costing you a seat. Each client can live in its own workspace with its own billing, and when an engagement ends you can hand the whole workspace, links and history included, to the client.
