Build UTM Campaign Links

Every Snipzr link can carry campaign tags. The builder lives inside the link dialog, checks your values against GA4's channel rules while you type, and bakes the tags into the destination URL, so every click arrives fully attributed in your analytics.

  1. Click Create New (or edit an existing link).
  2. Enter your destination URL.
  3. Open the UTM parameters section.
  4. Pick a Source (where the link runs: newsletter, facebook, google) and a Medium (the channel: email, paid-social, cpc). Both dropdowns only offer values that map to a real GA4 channel; pick Custom value for anything else.
  5. Name your Campaign (for example spring-launch). Term and Content are optional: term for paid keywords, content for A/B ad variants.
  6. Watch the caption under Source and Medium: it tells you which GA4 channel the combination lands in, for example GA4: this lands in Email. A warning means GA4 would file the session under Unassigned; fix it before you ship the link.
  7. Create the link. The preview shows the exact tagged destination with the appended parameters highlighted.

If you paste a URL that already carries UTM tags, the section opens by itself with the values filled in, and Snipzr checks them the same way.

Reuse values across a batch

When you tag several links for one launch, the builder remembers your last-used values within the session and prefills them, with a visible note and a one-click Clear. Paste-in URLs always win over remembered values.

QR codes carry your tags

QR codes encode the short link, and the tags live in the destination. Every scan carries full attribution, and the printed code stays stable even if you edit the tags later.

Why the GA4 check matters

GA4 assigns each session to a channel using strict rules about source and medium. Values outside those rules, including simple capitalization slips like Email instead of email, land the session in Unassigned, where it is invisible to channel reporting.
