Generate QR Codes

Snipzr makes it easy to create professional QR codes for your shortened URLs. Share your links both digitally and in print with scannable QR codes.

What are QR Codes?

QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can be scanned with smartphones / barcode readers to quickly access URLs. They're perfect for:

  • 📱 Print marketing materials
  • 🎫 Event tickets and badges
  • 📦 Product packaging
  • 🪧 Posters and signage
  • 📄 Business cards
  • 📧 Email signatures

Creating a QR Code

  1. Log in to your Snipzr dashboard
  2. Find the link you want to create a QR code for
  3. Click the QR Code icon next to the link
  4. Customize your QR code (see options below)
  5. Click Download

Customization Options

Click "Customize" to access all customization options organized into three groups:

Appearance

Colors:

  • Foreground Color: The QR code pattern (default: black)
  • Background Color: The background (default: white)

Style:

  • Standard: Traditional square QR code blocks
  • Whisper: Rounded, modern QR code blocks for a softer appearance
tip

Maintain high contrast between foreground and background for reliable scanning

Label (Optional)

Add custom text below your QR code:

  • Enter any text (e.g., "Scan to visit", "Download app", company name)
  • Font Size: Adjust from 10px to 24px
  • Font Weight: Choose from Light, Normal, Medium, Semi Bold, or Bold

Logo (Optional)

Add your brand logo to the center of the QR code:

Requirements:

  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Max file size: 100KB
  • Best results: Square image with transparent background

Logo Options:

  • Size: Adjust from 24px to 75px
  • Rounded: Apply circular shape to logo
  • Clear background: Add white space behind logo for better visibility
caution

Keep logos reasonably sized (recommended: 24-48px) to ensure the QR code remains scannable. Larger logos may interfere with scanning.

Download Formats

Choose from three formats optimized for different uses:

  • JPEG: Smaller file size, good for email and basic digital use
  • PNG: Best for web and digital use with transparency support
  • SVG: Scalable vector format, perfect for print materials at any size

Best Practices

Scanning Reliability

For best scanning results:

  • ✅ Use high contrast (dark foreground, light background)
  • ✅ Test scanning before printing or publishing
  • ✅ Keep logo size reasonable (24-48px recommended)
  • ✅ Include quiet zone (white space around QR code) - built into all downloads
  • ❌ Don't make QR code too small when printing (minimum 2cm x 2cm)
  • ❌ Avoid low-contrast color combinations (e.g., yellow on white)

File Formats

Choose the right format for your use case:

Use CaseRecommended FormatWhy
Website/DigitalPNGHigh quality with transparency support
EmailJPEGSmaller file size for faster loading
Print (any size)SVGVector format scales perfectly to any size
Social MediaPNG or JPEGBoth work well, JPEG for smaller files
Business CardsSVGEnsures crisp print at small sizes
Large Format PrintSVGMaintains quality at banner/poster sizes

Minimum sizes for reliable scanning:

  • Business cards: 2cm x 2cm minimum
  • Posters: 5-10cm square
  • Banners: 10-20cm square
  • Packaging: At least 2cm x 2cm
tip

When in doubt, go larger. QR codes are more reliable when larger.

Advanced Features

Dynamic QR Codes

All Snipzr QR codes are dynamic, which means:

  • Change destination URL anytime without reprinting the QR code
  • Track scans through link analytics
  • Update branding or customize the destination page
  • Works always as long as your Snipzr link is active

This is a huge advantage over static QR codes - if you need to change where the QR code points, just update the link's destination URL in your Snipzr dashboard!

QR Code Settings Are Saved

Your customization preferences (colors, style, label settings, logo) are automatically saved and will be pre-filled the next time you generate a QR code. This saves time when creating multiple QR codes with consistent branding.

Troubleshooting

QR Code Won't Scan

Common causes and solutions:

  1. Low contrast colors

    • Solution: Use dark foreground on light background (e.g., black on white)
    • Test different color combinations
  2. Logo too large

    • Solution: Reduce logo size to 24-48px
    • Ensure logo doesn't cover more than 20% of QR code area
  3. QR code too small when printed

    • Solution: Print at least 2cm x 2cm
    • Use SVG format for scalable printing
  4. Poor printing quality

    • Solution: Use high-quality printer settings
    • Download SVG for best print results
  5. Camera or lighting issues

    • Solution: Ensure good lighting when scanning
    • Clean camera lens
    • Try scanning from different distances

Download Issues

If download fails:

  • Try different format: Switch from SVG to PNG or JPEG
  • Clear cache: Clear browser cache and cookies
  • Incognito mode: Test in private/incognito window
  • Different browser: Try Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
  • iOS specific: On iOS, long-press the QR code image and select "Save Image"

Logo Upload Issues

If logo won't upload:

  • File too large: Compress image to under 100KB
  • Wrong format: Use only JPG or PNG files
  • Image corrupted: Try a different image file
